Hop Springs Eternal

Last winter we held our first ever home-brew competition, the Black Box Challenge.

The winning beer would be brewed right here in Shelburne in collaboration with the winning home brewer. Well, we did just that, and it sold out in days. We brewed the third place beer as well, and it sold out rapidly. So we decided to make it a trifecta, and brew the first runner up.

Made in collaboration with home brewers Mark Reid and Sean Ebert.

It’s a White IPA made with over 30% wheat in the malt bill, and hopped generously with Columbus, Cascade, Willamette and New Zealand Pacifica hops. This creates a blend of flavours right up the IPA alley, while the wheat makes a great mouth filling base for it. To top it off we used quite an obscure yeast strain to ferment it, giving the beer some fruity notes that perfectly compliment the fruity citrus and pine notes in the beer.

Perfectly refreshing, smooth and easily drinkable. You’ll ask for another.

Available on tap at Battery Park in Dartmouth, as well as Stillwell and The Townhouse Pub in Antigonish. It will be available in bottles at Bishop’s Cellar, Rockhead Wine & Beer Market, Harvest Wines and Cristall Wine Merchants. Also, for a limited time it will be available at Liquid Assets, on the air-side of the Halifax Stanfield International Airport!

Of course you can get it in growlers on Saturdays at the Halifax Seaport Market, and Alderney Farmers’ Market as well as at our own Boxing Rock retail store in beautiful Shelburne.
