One of my favourite things to tell our customers is that Boxing Rock is a real place. And I’ve been there, multiple times. In my kayak.
In 2017 Canada turned 150 years old. Boxing Rock was only 4, but we wanted to get in on the action anyway. We had been meaning to organize an expedition to Boxing Rock for a while. At the time my kids were really into geocaching, and I thought that maybe we should plant a geocache on Boxing Rock and, while we were there, we might as well “claim” the rock and plant a Boxing Rock flag.
I assembled an expedition team that included our brewer, Nick, our distribution manager, Adam and my family. It included two kayaks and four sailboats. My kids sailed their Optimists. The weather wasn’t amazing…typical foggy Nova Scotia summer day. But it was a successful expedition. I’m not sure how long the flag and geocache lasted (probably they washed away during the next hurricane) but it sure was fun to see the Boxing Rock flag flying on Boxing Rock that Canada Day.
