Community is one of our core values at Boxing Rock. Community means a lot of things to us and we aim to help build community by providing safe spaces for people to connect over a great local beer. We also support our communities any way we can. We love supporting the sports we love, especially those that form part of the fabric of the South Shore, like sailing and axe throwing.
In 2022 we had the opportunity to sponsor the World Double-Bit Axe Throwing Championships held in Barrington. We were immediately on board to support this event but we had no idea just how huge this would be for our community. We had over 100 competitors from 10 countries competing for $34,000 in prize money and over 5000 people came to watch. It was simply awesome. Oh, and did I mention there was a beer garden?
If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, TSN produced three 30-minute episodes chronicling the finals in each of the Men’s, Women’s and Team divisions (catch them on YouTube if you missed them live!). Although I was knocked out in the preliminary rounds and didn’t get to make a TV appearance, the experience of competing was unforgettable. I cannot wait to do it again!
